I knew that I was a hairstylist when I was about 9 years old. My Mother bought me a baby doll that had a head full of curls. I decided that I was going to wash the doll's hair...wrong move. All of the curls were gone. My Mother was so mad. I thought to myself, "Ewww... I'm going to get it." Instead, she gave me some rollers and setting lotion, and told me, "YOU BETTER GET EVERY ONE OF THOSE CURLS BACK IN THAT DOLLS HAIR!!!" And I did. My Mother looked at the doll's hair and said, "that looks good, now do it again." I repeated the process, thus A Hairstylist Was Born.
I am a native of Columbus, Georgia, where I attended Carver High School and took Cosmetology classes. I practiced Real Estate for several years, but Cosmetology has always been my first love. I went on to attend Dekalb Technical College where I obtained degrees in Cosmetology and Marketing Management in 2009. I worked at Like The River Salon as a shampoo assistant for a few months to get acclimated. I was promoted to the Like The River Styling Team and worked in this position for 6 years.
Studio Pough Salon was founded with a simple goal in mind: to provide high-quality beauty services to our clients in a welcoming and relaxing environment. Since our founding, we have built a loyal following of clients who trust us to help them look and feel their best.
Studio Pough Salon located in Atlanta GA opened in 2015. We specialize in healthy hair, relaxed hair, precision cuts, color treatments, edgy hairstyles, and silk presses. Maintaining the health of the hair is very important. We will not perform any service that will compromise the integrity of the hair, or our philosophy that "Healthy Hair is a Priority." Because we understand the value of continuing education, we attend hair shows and classes around the country that keep us abreast of the latest trends in the industry. We believe communication with the client, continuing education, and great customer service are the three keys that facilitate long lasting client/stylist relationships. In addition to our beauty services, we also offer a range of high-quality beauty products to help our clients maintain their beauty routines at home. Our products are carefully selected to ensure that they are effective and safe for our clients to use.
I have been a licensed Master Cosmetologist since 2009, and have seen a number of hair and scalp abnormalities. I had to find a natural way to help, and decided to take an online class to learn how to make plant based hair products. I participated in a 12 week online class at the Joan Morias Cosmetic School, where I receive a Natural Hair Care Product Making and Formulation Course Diploma in the fall of 2020.
As a Master Cosmetologist and a Trained Cosmetic Formulator, I understand that a healthy scalp can help promote healthy hair. It is very important to not only make the hair look good, but also to make the hair and scalp feel good. Many of my clients have unbalanced scalps, and I saw the need to create a hair care line of all natural ingredients and essential oils that will help to combat these issues, and who better to start with? My mission is to help produce healthy scalps, which will produce healthy hair because “Healthy Hair Is A Priority”.
After trying a few different oil formulations on myself, I gave select clients a small amount of oil to use at home. I altered the formulation base on the feed back. I began to use the oil on my clients as a hair oil and styling aid. I began selling to my salon client base once we decided this was the one. Now, what do we call it? Well… It is beneficial to the hair, scalp and body. This is how I arrived at Studio Pough HSB (Hair, Scalp, and Body) Oil. As simple as that. It is formulated to help with hair, scalp, and skin abnormalities. It is made from 10 different plant oils that will condition, nourish, and hydrate the hair, scalp and skin.
Studio Pough HSB oil has been carefully poured in 3.38 oz travel approved Miron Violetglass bottles. Miron Violetglass is a unique bio photonic glass packaging for natural products. Miron glass protects products from the harmful effects of light, increases the shelf life, and protects and revitalizes their potency. These bottles create longer shelf life and quality preservation. Less waste and recyclable.
